Tuning concepts

I’ve recently gotten several questions relating to how a pair of WhiteRoom skis should be tuned. A proper tune can make a world of difference on how a ski behaves and performs. With the evolution of modern ski design, tuning has also evolved to adapt to these new designs that include both rocker and camber as well as mixed sidecut designs.

Ski Design: An east coast perspective.

Not long ago I had someone message me about my opinions about ski width as it pertains specifically to the east coast. He felt there a lot of misconceptions about this topic. I told him I’d write something up when I go the chance. So below you’ll find some of my ski building philosophy. All mountain In my opinion a good all mountain ski width for the east might range anywhere between 85 and 100 […]

Vermont Magazine – What Happens When a Skier’s Hobby Goes Haywire

In the spring of 2018 I was interviewed by Vermont Magazine for an article about WhiteRoom Custom Skis and the story of how I got into building custom skis. Their writer and skier Mark Aiken, came to visit me at WRS HQ. We talked skis, ski building and  I showed him around my shop. I think Mark does a great job capturing how WhiteRoom Skis came into existence. Please click the link and take a a […]

His and Hers: WhiteRoom Skis Review

I received a review from a customer recently that I’d like to share. The pair in this post is the “his” model of this his/hers combo build. I have to say I am a big fan of these skis. I know they were built with powder in mind, however, being that they are a medium/stiffish flex, they perform really well in a variety of conditions. I really have been using them almost everyday last year […]

WhiteRoom Skis rip the Italian Alps

WhiteRoom Skis rip the Italian Alps I just got an email from a friend and White Room Ski owner, Pete, who just returned from a tour in the Italian Alps on his WhiteRooms. I really makes me happy to hear how much people enjoy the beauty and more importantly, the performance of their WhiteRooms. I still remember the excitement I felt upon hearing I’d be one of the lucky few to build a pair of […]

Upslope Review

Upslope Review I got a nice review of the WhiteRoom Skis Upslope model from, Shaun, a ripping local Smuggs skier who took them for a 2 day demo recently. Shaun’s review Late spring I had the opportunity to ski the WhiteRoom UpSlope with Marker Kingpin demo binding. First day conditions were variable; spring corn, mashed with clumps of mank and the eastern ice we always ski from months of snowmaking. The UpSlope was a champion. […]

Product testing, Upslope Model

Upslope Model Product Testing I’ve recently been product testing a new pair of skis that I’m now ready to share with everyone. The Upslope model was designed as a light-ish BC charger. Aptly named for the upslope snow storms we get here in the Green Mountains of Vermont and for its intended purpose of earning vert. My personally philosophy on ski design includes the notion that super light skis get knocked around too much in […]

Freshies Magazine Article

Freshies Magazine Article This past Thursday I spent the morning skiing with Adam White from The Burlington Free Press: Freshies Magazine. Adam skied a pair of WhiteRooms and we talked about everything from my process, how I build skis, what’s in the skis and the state of the craft ski industry in Vermont. We skied some soft spring like conditions and ripped some warp speed GS turns on the soft groomers at Smuggs. After skiing […]
